Education
I believe in education; whether it is
secular or religious. This is why I am returning to the
board after a brief break. Educating our children in the
beauty of Judaism, the language, customs and history are the
main goals of the religious school. Creating and
strengthening our community and a sense of belonging for our
children is another. After having two daughters, I welcome
the opportunity to further develop our program as we add
curriculum and special programs. It is fun and challenging
to use my education background for such a personal, yet
community based goal.
It has been very rewarding to continue my
work in the education field of Temple Beth Ami. I believe
very strongly that by getting involved everyone benefits,
mostly our children.
I look forward to working with you and
your children as we all go on our journey toward more
knowledge. Please contact me with any questions, concerns,
compliments or to volunteer.

Preschool
G-d has bestowed upon us many gifts,
but none more precious and lasting than the gift of
children.
Last month our 2008 pre-K class
participated in their graduation. It was a wonderful day!
Each of the children sang songs, received his/her diploma
and received a special blessing from Rabbi Blazer. It was a
very special event for our children, their parents and our
TBA staff. We know that our 12 graduates will go on to great
success in Kindergarten and we look forward to seeing them
back at TBA as Sunday School students.
Thank you for sharing your children with
us. To know each of these children has been to love them. We
have become your extended family here at TBA as we went
through the year sharing the holidays and learning
traditions together.
Proverbs tells us, "Train a child in the
way that he should go and when he is grown he will not part
from it." Our wish has been to succeed in educating your
children with good teachers who nurtured, loved and fed them
information. The secret has been not just to read them a
story but to emphasize that the story belongs to them, it is
their personal legacy. They are an essential link in the
unbroken chain of tradition. As this school year has come to
a close and you move on to new schools and experiences the
blessing echoes, "May the divine light shine upon you and
bring you peace." You will remain in our hearts.
We look forward to welcoming our newest
students to TBA for the summer and fall. Speaking of summer,
Camp TBA begins on July 7 and is open to all children, ages
2 through 5. Please contact me for more information. It's
going to be an amazing summer!

Meet Our New Board Members
Treasurer
I moved to the Santa Clarita Valley in
2006. I live in Belcaro, a 55 and better community in North
Valencia. Several other Belcaro residents are TBA members
and asked me and my wife, Sharon, to go to services one
Friday night. We joined the temple. I am a non-practicing
CPA but I am the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of C.A.
Rasmussen, one of the largest general engineering
contractors, so the nominating committee thought that they
had a live one for the Treasurer's spot.
I have been active in temple affairs,
community service and construction industry non-profit
activities my entire adult life. I am eagerly looking
forward to serving on the board.

Preschool
I have been elected to be the preschool
chair of Temple Beth Ami's board. For those of you that
don't know me, I have a bachelor's degree in child
development and family studies and master's degree in
special education.
I taught kindergarten and first grade in
New York City, Puerto Rico and California. I grew up in New
York and moved to California with my husband in 2002. Since
that time, our family has grown to include Madeline, 3½
years old, and Max, 1½ year old. We have been members of
Temple Beth Ami since August 2005. I am very excited to be
able to contribute to the growth and future success of our
temple.

Membership
have been a member of Temple Beth
Ami since 2004. During this time, I have served as a board
member (Ways and Means), havurah coordinator and preschool
parent volunteer. Now, as Membership Trustee, I hope to
continue to help TBA grow and increase its presence in the
community.
Last month, we celebrated TBA's 20th
Anniversary Gala. It was the largest and most successful
event in TBA history. It was an honor to work with Tracy
Blazer on this one-of-a-kind event. The entire committee has
my most humble thanks for putting together such a fun-filled
evening! We also raised about $30,000 during the evening,
and TBA was the recipient of not one, but two gifts of
$50,000 each, which will go toward building our future site.
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the gala. I
am excited about what this year has in store for our TBA
community.
